Aug 5, 1865 to 1867, possibly in Arlington, TX. Anna Georgia Thomas in born to Mary Elizabeth Barnes Christman-Thomas and husband Mr. Thomas (possibly Lafayette B “Fate” Thomas).


By 1869. Anna’s father dies and Anna’s mother is residing in or near Brazos County, TX. The family at this time consists of Mary, daughters Victoria Belle Christman and Anna G Thomas, and possibly one other child whose name and gender are lost.


July 1, 1869 in Brazos County, TX. Anna’s mother weds Jeptha Norton Garrett, a native of Georgia who had been in the area for about three years. Jeptha brings into the relationship two daughters of his own: Mary Evelyn Garrett (15) and Eugenia Garrett (13).


July 15, 1870, Burleson County, TX. The family resides near Caldwell, TX. On this record Anna is called Georgia A Thomas, age 5.


Oct 15, 1871, near Caldwell. Anna’s half sister Laura Gertrude Garrett is born.


Dec 19, 1871, Burleson County, TX. Anna’s step sister Mary is wed to William Haire.


April 1872, near Caldwell, TX. Anna’s half sister Fannie El Dorado Garrett is born.


May 1873, Caldwell, TX. Dove Baptist Church mentions Anna’s step sister Eugenia Garrett in their records.


About 1873/4. The family moves to Florence, Williamson County, TX.


April 4, 1875 in Florence, TX. Anna’s sister Ella Norton Garrett is born.


About this time and place Anna’s half sister Belle Christman may have first been introduced to future husband Archibald Lamb who had at least one Uncle in the Florence area.


Between 1874 and 1878 Anna’s step father Jeptha may have died, though I can’t count out the possibility of divorce.


March 10, 1878 in Bell County, TX. Anna’s step sister Eugenia Garrett weds Benjamin F Essary.


March 14, 1878 in Georgetown, TX. Anna’s mother weds for the 4th time to James A Mitchell, a native of Scotland.


July 19, 1878 in Round Rock, TX. Anna’s Uncle John Seaborn Barnes is shot and killed.


It is possible that the family moves to Stockton, CA about this time. Anna’s sister Belle Christman is the only one to stay behind. She moves to Austin, TX


Aug 11, 1878 in Stockton CA. Anna’s step sister Mrs Mary E (Garrett) Haire is wed to Charles L Weitz.


June 1, 1880 in Austin, TX. Anna’s half sister Belle Christman lives on Mesquite street and works as a servant.


June 7, 1880 in Coleman County, TX. Anna’s step sister Eugenia Essary is widowed, living with another family and works as there cook.


June 15 1880. Stockton CA. Anna and family live in the old Gambetta addition of Stockton. With them is Jeptha Garrett’s brother Isaiah Garrett.


Sept 15, 1880. Austin, TX. Belle “VB” Christman weds Archibald “A.” Lamb.


Oct 1880, an advertisement for Belle’s services runs in Austin papers still using her maiden name of Christman.


1881. Anna’s step sister Eugenia Essary moves to Stockton.


April 16, 1881 in Stockton CA. Anna’s half sister Marguerite Estelle Mitchell is born.


June 22, 1881 in Stockton. Anna’s step sister Eugenia marries Pardon A. Davis.


April 21, 1882 in Stockton. Anna’s step father James A Mitchell dies.


June 11, 1882 in Stranger, Falls County, TX. Anna’s half sister Belle Lamb has a daughter, Maudie Elizabeth Lamb.


1888, Stockton, CA. Anna and family live at 253 Washington Street in the old Gambetta addition. Mary E Mitchell’s occupation is dressmaker.


March 17, 1889 in Stranger, Falls County, TX. Anna’s half sister Belle Christman Lamb dies.


Jan 21, 1891, in Stockton. Anna’s half sister El Dorado Garrett is wed to Charles P. Smith.


1892. Mary E Mitchell moves from Stockton, CA to Oakland living at 2006 Everett.


Oct 22, 1892 in Sacramento, CA. Anna’s half sister Ella Garrett is wed to Eugene Wiener.


1894 in Stockton, CA. Anna’s half sister Laura Garrett is wed to Robert Smith.


May 16, 1894 in San Francisco. Anna’s half sister El Dorado Smith divorces husband Charles.


June 5, 1895 in Marin County, CA. Anna weds Grafton Jorge Hillman, Jr, a Rail Road conductor and son of a Sea Captain. Grafton Jr was born at sea, his father having married a Peruvian girl who he then brought to California in the 1850’s. It was on this voyage that Grafton Jr was born.


1895 to 1905, San Francisco, CA. Grafton and Anna, who now goes by Annie have been living at 34 John st.


Aug 25, 1899 in Aberdeen, Washington. Annie’s half sister Ella Garrett Wiener is wed to Frank Sylvester Dooling. Ella and Frank become the comedy team Earle and Hampton. Frank was a printer and probably printed up posters and flyers of their act as advertisement.


1900, in Oakland. Annie’s mother Mary and half sister Marguerite live on Old County Rd. Next to them is living step sister El Dorado Smith.


Oct 25, 1900 in Marin County, CA. Annie’s half sister Marguerite Mitchell is wed to Start Allen.


1901 in San Francisco. Annie’s husband Grafton G Hillman is both a RR conductor and a bailiff, perhaps one was his night job.


Dec 25 1902 in Oakland, CA. Annie’s half sister El Dorado Smith succumbs to blood poisoning.


About 1902 or 1903. Annie’s half sister Marguerite divorces husband Stuart Allen.


May 2, 1903, Santa Clara, CA. Annie’s half sister Marguerite marries George A. Gray.


June 1906. The ailing Isaiah Garrett (brother of Jeptha) leaves land deeds for Stockton land lots to Annie, her mother and her sisters, and also to Annie’s nieces Laura and Olive. Though he wasn’t truly Annie’s Uncle, he still thought of her. He died later that year.

About this time Grafton and Annie move to Oakland, living at 1713 Wakefield.


Aug 9, 1907, San Francisco. Annie’s half sister Ella files for divorce from Frank Dooling.


Dec 10, 1908, Fruitvale/Oakland, Alameda County, CA. Annie’s mother Mary dies.

About 1913, Annie’s half sister Marguerite divorces George A Gray.


About this time, Annie and Grafton have moved to 2601 Wakefield.


1914 in Oakland, voting precinct no 130. Grafton registers to vote, Republican.


July 1, 1915. Annie’s brother in law William N Shannon goes to prison for life.


July 12, 1915 in Fresno, CA. Annie’s half sister Marguerite wed Richard Joseph Doyle.


Oct 20, 1917 in Oakland. Annie’s step sister Mary Garrett Weitz dies.

May 29, 1920, Los Angeles. Annie’s half sister Ella marries John Zapf.


Dec 13, 1922, Oakland, CA. Annie’s half sister Marguerite is granted divorce from husband Richard Doyle.


Nov 23, 1923 in Alameda County, CA. Annie Thomas Hillman dies of cancer.
